Why is Email Marketing so Powerful?
It's simple - Human Nature and Timing!
Generally when a Visitor first comes into contact with a
business they don't actually do anything and that is because
either they don't actually need something right now or because
they don't know much about the business.
Email Marketing - Human Nature
It's a simple fact of doing business that some people need
to know more about the business they are dealing with or the
products and services on offer before they will make a
decision. People are wary and have a lot of choice which can
lead to information overload and worry. With the recent changes
to the economy this is only going to get worse as everybody
becomes more careful with their spending (consumers and
businesses).
Typically a new Visitor to your site may also visit 5 - 10
or more similar sites, so you can imagine how they must be
feeling at the end of it all. If you didn't make a sale or get
that all important phone call from your first visit - the
chances are, the average visitor will be unlikely to
return.
For those businesses that manage to capture email addresses,
the chances of recovering the Visitor to become a Customer or
Client are much greater. You can contact them straight away
with useful, valuable and relevant information which will help
build a positive relationship. From the first contact you can
keep in touch with various messages which slowly increase
confidence in your business, product and services.
It's been said that some people need to be communicated to
between six and eight times before they make a decision
and take action - This is very powerful stuff so use
it!
Email Marketing - Timing
Sometimes your new website visitors are looking for
something but it's just not quite the 'right time' for them -
so they are browsing, accumulating information for the future.
They may be looking for something they need in two weeks time
or in three months or whatever - so there is simply no need to
make a decision today.
The problem is 'Today' might be the only and last day they
ever see your site - so chances are you won't see them again!
By keeping in touch regularly with appropriate information you
can build up a good relationship and when the time is right -
you'll be in with a good chance of making a sale.
